The Soulquarians is a group of musicians from throughout the US who recorded music together from the mid 90's til the early 2000's. Individuals in this group have come to define genre and many now have tremendous following and are very successful. This group consisted of J Dilla, Questlove, James Poyser, Bilal, Q-Tip,D'Angelo, Jeff Lee & Pino Palladino. Many of the members had are an Aquarius on the Greek Zodiac or had Birthdays near that time, the term Soulquarian also represents a love, appreciation & understanding of soul music and related genres.
Erykah Badu, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Raphael Siddiq & Common all rolled with the Soulquarian click. The music came fast and strong. D'Angelo's 'Voodoo' is a definition of the Soulquarian sound, with Jaydee, Questlove, Posyer and a host of other musicians killing it off.
Other Soulquarian work includes Common's 'Like Water For Chocolate' as well as Erykah Badu's 'Mamas Gun'. All these albums have gone gold or platinum.

I'm quite embarrassed to admit that I'd never heard of The Soulquarians! I listened to many of the artists as individuals, but I never even knew they existed as a group! Your blog really is an education, I love it!
